Welcome to my common sense website. If you are looking for glitz and glamor, you've come to the wrong place. I'm NOT a polished POLITICIAN that tells everyone what they want to hear!
I am an unashamed Conservative with a loud voice and some rock solid core values. I spent 31 years in the Army serving this country, and I don't mind fighting for the American Values of the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and of our Founding Fathers. I am not for sale, and I'm hard to bully. And, as a Retired Lieutenant Colonel, I'm NO Wallflower either. I'm certainly not perfect, but who among us is? And I've made my fair share of mistakes in my life, too --- haven't you? But I know the difference between right and wrong, and I don't do politically correct. I think it is important to speak the TRUTH as kindly as possible, and let the chips fall wherever they may. I learned a long time ago that I can't and won't make everyone happy --- like the 40% of the population that always votes Democrat --- so I don't try.

U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry has been our Congressman for 18 years and I appreciate his service to our country. But through those years Mac has become a career politician who has put the interests of big government ahead of the interests of the people of his district. Eighteen years is too long to serve in Congress, and Mac agreed with that when he first ran for office. He promised by signing the Contract With America that he believed in term limits, but instead he went to Washington and became a part of the problem. Remember TARP? Remember ALL the Debt Limit Ceiling increases over the years without real cost-cutting offsets? He forgot the people back home. And he forgot his promise to actually be a citizen legislator. Now it is time to tell Mac that enough is enough.

If I am elected to serve, I would NOT be thinking about re-election. In fact, I signed the U.S. Term Limits Amendment Pledge on 12 Sept 2011. I will volunteer FOUR YEARS to serve in Congress, and then I will campaign and work to help you replace me with some other worthy Conservative individual. I love my home, my farm, my business, my church, my town, and my state. But I love America, too, and I know that if we lose the Freedom, Liberty, and Opportunity of this country that we so often take for granted, then I stand to lose all the other things that I love as well. I would be dedicated to restoring, preserving, and protecting American Values, and then getting back home where I belong.

Has it been my lifelong ambition to run for Congress? NO! The verse I quoted in the header means to me that there are times in our lives when we have to come out of our comfort zone and do what needs to be done instead of sitting back and expecting someone else to do it for us. So just as a soldier called to the battlefield reports to his post to fight for our country --- I will go to Congress to fight for a Constitutional America. And that is exactly why I would make a good choice for your Representative. SOMEONE has to go and try to do what is right and necessary, including teach, discuss, debate, argue when necessary, and whatever else it takes to fight back against ever expanding government size and power. Someone has to stand face-to-face and toe-to-toe with the people who are trying to fundamentally change the government of this country into something we won't recognize, and not only refuse to surrender one more inch of America, but push back as well. I don't know that I can succeed, but I can and will TRY with every ounce of strength that is in me if given the opportunity!
My
political views tend to fall somewhere between Republican and
Libertarian. I can't agree with the Legal Drugs Libertarians, and I
can't abide the go-along-to-get-along Republicans. I donated to the
Republican National Committee for years, until I felt that they no
longer represented my views. I have worked hard locally to get
conservative Republican candidates elected. And I have written, called,
faxed, and discussed face-to-face to hold their feet to the fire. I am
not now, nor have I ever been, a Democrat. I think the clearest "box" for me would be Constitutional Conservative.

policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea
acceptable only to doctrinaire and academic thinkers," he wrote. "Instead,
the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can

I can't count the times I have shouted at the TV screen because some Politician is lying and no one seems to want to publicly challenge the offender. I can't count the times I've cringed at conservatives caving to political pressure, or bowing to bipartisanship, instead of standing their ground on principles. And day by day, inch by inch, we are being pulled to the left.

I am absolutely sick and tired of Barack Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy
Pelosi, and their whole entourage of "aristocrats" telling me not only
what I need, but what I want as well. Give me a break --- like
they would know what I want or need! We write, call, email, march, even
shout at the top of our lungs, and they just ignore us and go about
doing what they want for us like they are our parents and we are nothing
more than children. Even voting them into the Minority hasn't seemed
to push them from their socialist agenda.
I don't know about you, but I've had enough of it!

- I am the daughter of a US Army career Soldier who served honorably in WWII & Korea, and a stay-at-home Mom who raised four successful children.
- I was Saved and became a Christian at 9 years old in Vacation Bible School.
- I graduated from Parkland High School in El Paso, Texas, with Honors in 1972.
- I graduated from Texas A&M, BS Animal Science/Production Magna Cum Laude in 1975.
- I accepted an Army Health Professions Scholarship in 1976 in order to finish my education.
- I graduated from Texas A&M, BS Veterinary Science Cum Laude in 1977.
- I graduated from Texas A&M, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 1979.
- I served on Active Duty at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, 1979-1982.
- I was active in the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR), and was selected for Active Reserve duty first as an Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA), and then as a Drilling Individual Mobilization Augmentee (DIMA) and served in those positions until I retired in 2007.
- I wrote or otherwise developed several Army Regulations that are still in effect today.
- I started my Veterinary practice in Bowie, Texas, in 1983.
- I worked with the Humane Society of Wichita County as their surgical Veterinarian for 18 years, and served one term on the Board of Directors.
- I have worshiped at Crafton Baptist Church since 1986.
- I have served as a Director of the Bowie Chamber of Commerce for a cumulative 6 years, and remained active between terms as well.
- I wrote portions of and worked in the development of the Bowie Zoning and Animal Control Ordinances.
- I have served as a Director of the Bowie Main Street Association for a cumulative 4 years, served one term as Vice President, and remained active between terms.
- I am a Compassion International child sponsor.
- I have served on the Montague County Grand Jury.
- I have personal goals that I work toward with at least one step every day.
For one thing, I know how to save money. In fact, I can pinch a penny until Abe has a migraine. But more than that, I know how to get things done right without spending a fortune doing it. Plus, I have a conscience that won't let me take what isn't mine or waste what has been entrusted to me.
Let me give you some examples:
As I mentioned before, I spent
31 years in the Army --- three years Active Duty, and 28 years in the
Army Reserve. I had the opportunity to go to Continuing Education
conferences every year. Most of the time the conferences were held in
really nice hotels in major cities. Often, there was a military
installation nearby. Of course, as a Lieutenant Colonel, I could have
stayed in the high priced hotel and received 100% reimbursement for the
lodging no questions asked. The only problem is that I was not spending
MY money, I was spending YOUR tax money. With that in mind, I did my
best to stay in the soldier housing available nearby for a fraction of
the hotel cost. If that was not available, I found a local budget
motel. I didn't do this once or twice, I did it consistently for 31
years --- and I have the records to prove it.
I
built my business from the ground up, starting with a box of vaccine on
the tailgate of my pickup truck in 1983, and opened my Practice in
1984. After a year of hard work and saving, I was able to buy a small
building for my clinic. Through the years, I worked as many as four
jobs at the same time to finance my growth and purchase the equipment I
needed. Although I have to pay my bills, I have always tried to work
with and make payment arrangements for my clients on a fixed income or
who had financial setbacks. I never planned and do not expect to ever
be rich in dollars, but I have lots of happy memories. 
A few years ago, I knew that I would need a larger clinic
facility. I kept my eyes and ears open for unused surplus building
supplies available as discard from other construction projects,
stockpiling them as they became available for future use. I bought a
vacant downtown building to renovate, saved the reusable lumber removed
from the existing interior walls during the remodeling, and used it in
the construction of the new roof as joists and bracing. I acquired
used cinder blocks during the demolition of a wall at the local High
School, and reused these cinder blocks to close up window and door
openings. Rather than buy all new equipment and fixtures for the new
clinic facility, I moved the in-use fixtures from our original clinic
into the newly remodeled building. I also purchased used stainless
steel kennel cages and fixtures as needed from other clinic dispersal
sales rather than buy new whenever possible. I built a business out of
nothing, created jobs, made and met budgets, grew and prospered, and
made the tough decisions for years --- experience we desperately NEED
in Washington NOW!

There is a sickness in America today. It is a moral sickness that attempts to
ignore the principles that created America, the values of the Founding
Fathers. Those afflicted by this sickness attempt to impose “revisionism”
onto the political landscape. This is what passes for “progressive”
policy, but progressives do not believe in progress. They believe in
rearranging the order of society, with no sense of common purpose or ideal.
CONSTITUTIONAL CONSERVATISM =NOT= RACISM
Things my parents taught me:
As a child of older parents, I grew up with the values of a previous generation. My parents had seen the Great Depression up close and personal, and had their own memories along with the stories of other family members to shape their attitudes and judgment. They were determined that no matter what, we would all get a good education and make something of ourselves.
These are the voices from the past that guide my future:
- "If you can't be anything else, at least be honest."
- "Truth is still truth whether you believe it or not."
- "If you don't work, you don't eat."
- "Nobody owes you anything."
- "Everyone wears used clothes, because the instant you put them on they're not new anymore."
- "We don't take charity, we look out for ourselves."
- "If you don't want problems, keep your zipper up."
- "If you don't have common sense and understanding, you don't have anything."
- "It doesn't matter what you do if it is honest labor, even digging ditches. Do it the best you can, whatever job you do, and you'll do right."
Well, money is important to get my name out there and noticed. Just click on the Contribute Now button on any page to contribute financially to my campaign. going to realize that the "traditional" way of selecting Representatives
--- by listening to expensive sound-bite TV Commercials and reading professional glossy
Newspaper Ads --- only gets them lots of POLITICIANS; and Democrat or
Republican, way too many politicians are the same self-serving beast
under the badge. Who was it that said that the definition of
insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a
different result or outcome? Well, I'm not just more of the same thing. People who truly take the time to get to know WHO I AM will KNOW what kind of Representative they are electing. If you think I am the right person to represent you and your family,
please, tell your friends and neighbors, volunteer, donate --- whatever you can do.

away free, but the reality is that I don't. And, I think, most of the

at some point, I have an uncommitted thousand dollars to spend. I am also hoping to be able to buy a few larger signs to put in high traffic areas in towns across the District. You know as much as anyone how much I love my practice and the privilege of taking care of my patients. I have known from as far back as I can remember that this was the passion that was put into my heart at the time that God was forming the person that I am. I have no intention of abandoning you or closing the clinic. Here is my plan:
My younger sister lives in Virginia within commuting distance of Washington D.C. Her children are grown and on their own, so she has an available spare room in her home. I have asked and she has agreed to allow me to rent her spare room. This will help me keep my costs down while I am in Washington.
The salary I will earn will be enough to take care of me while I am there, as well continue to keep the clinic open and my staff employed. They will still be there to help you with the things they are allowed to do by law. Every time I can get away and come home, I will let the staff know so that they can schedule a time when I can take care of my patients. I will do my duty to the Constitution in Congress as my priority, but I will try to get home as often as I can.
I know that I will not be here to meet all of your needs for a while, and I know this will be difficult for all of us, but I have had to be away before when the Army called me to active duty from time to time.
Please bear with me as I try to make this country the great and wonderful place it has been for us and will be again for our children, and our grandchildren, and the generations of Americans to come.
